Coach & Player Requests

In an attempt to balance teams correctly, we cannot accept requests for your child to be with specific coaches, or children to be placed on same teams as other children. Only coach's and assistant coach's own children are guaranteed to be on same team.  No other requests for pairings will be considered.

Random team assignment, coupled with player ratings, is the only way to assure balanced teams. Reasons such as babysitters, carpool needs, practice days or location, coach likes or dislikes, and a host of other issues, are insufficient to support team assignment. We have no control over the coaches’ choices; it is a chance you are taking, and you may have to make other arrangements or changes to your schedule. Players will not be moved once the teams have been formed.

The following requests are NOT granted in any division at any time:
  • Practice and/or game field location
  • Practice time or day
  • Requests to change teams after teams have been posted
  • Teammate requests
  • Coach requests

Please note that the practice and game schedules are posted AFTER the refund deadline. Please consider this BEFORE registering as there are no exceptions after the posted cancellation deadline.

Request to play in an older/younger division

AYSO National and Region 393 placement guidelines does not allow any player to play down (in a division with younger players). There are no exceptions. The Regional Commissioner may approve a player to "play up" in a division (with children older) depending on the player's experience and/or skill level.

Post Registration

Whew! I’ve registered! Now what happens?

What’s the Board doing?

Immediately after the last registration date, your Region Board begins the process of putting the teams together for the upcoming season. When this is completed, the uniforms will be ordered, and the coaches will be notified.

When do the coaches get their teams?

Coaches should expect to receive their team rosters by July 15th.

When do the players get called?

Teams may begin practice on or after August 1st. The coaches will call the players once they have completed training and background checks. They will give you all the information you will need in regard to practice times and location. Each coach sets his/her own practice days, time.

How often are practices and games?

Practices are held once for lower divisions and twice a week for upper divisions (field and times to be determined by your child’s coach). Games will be on Saturdays with the first game on September 7th. Games and practices will be held at Pelona Vista: 37720 Tierra Subida Ave, Palmdale, CA 93551

It’s after August 15th, and my child has not been called. What do I do?

Please do not panic if you see teams practicing and your child has not been called. Not all teams begin practice at the same time. The very young teams, in particular, do not always begin practice by August 15th. Also some coaches may be out of town. If your child has not been called by August 15th, you may Email us at [email protected]

What else does my child need?

The registration fee includes complete uniform (jersey, shorts, socks) supplemental accident insurance, and a medal (Spring) or trophy (Fall). In addition, you may need to obtain shoes, shin guards, a soccer ball (size depends on age) and a water bottle.

Refund?
Players withdrawing prior to August 1st will be issued a full refund. All requests for a refund must be submitted in writing and accompanied by a self-addressed stamped envelope.

Please go to our website and look under the “Docs & Forms” tab for complete instructions.

Please Remember…

AYSO is a parent-based volunteer organization established to provide a positive experience for our children. Go to the games. Learn the rules. Above all, be tolerant of the children’s coaches and referees’ mistakes and weaknesses.
